Points Awards System - how it works

The Felis Britannica Points Awards will run between Winners Shows each year and is based on the level of competition amongst the cats in competition. The total number of points are calculated by knowing how many adult males, adult females, kittens, juniors, neuter males and neuter females each judge has had in each category.

 The points for each cat will be worked out as follows, working on the following scale of points:

Points Awarded: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 12 14 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27

1 point for each cat in competition up to 10 points. From them on, in increments of 5 cats where an extra 2 points is awarded up to 29 cats. From 30 cats upwards the increments of 5 would carry only 1 point.

Here is an example of how this would work:

Take a category with 3 judges and take, for this example, male and female neuters

Judge 'A' has 9 male neuters & 3 female neuters
Judge 'B' has 3 male neuters & 2 female neuters
Judge 'C' has 4 male neuters & 6 female neuters

Total 16 male neuters, 11 female neuters and a total number of neuters = 27

Therefore, the winning neuter would have had 27 cats in competition and receive 16 points The BOX (if male) 16 cats in competition and would receive 12 points.  The BOX (if female) 11 cats in competition and would receive 10 points.

The remaining cats which were only nominated and got no further would then receive the number of points based on the number which had been in competition with the particular judge, i.e. if Judge B's male neuter did not win, it would receive 3 points for the nomination.

Cats that have been awarded BIVs but were not Nominated will also be awarded points.

3 cats in competition 1 point
3-5 cats in competition 2 points
6 plus cats in competition 3 points.

A tie will be resolved by taking the greatest number of BIVs.  If there is then still a tie, the cats will be deemed inseparable and a true tie will be declared.
